How to manage company scenarios

The Scenario screen allows you to create various planning scenarios that, once configured to your company needs, will show you different financial outcomes and help you to choose the right strategy for your company.

Please keep in mind that this screen is only designed for scenario creation. If you wish to configure a scenario by imputing various financial data, you will need to navigate to the planning data screen.

What the ‘Manage company scenarios’ screen shows:

  • Attributes – showing if the scenario is main or inherited, and if it is current
  • Color – users can select any color for easy differentiation
  • Name – scenario name should be unique
  • Comment – user’s comment
  • Enabled – if disabled, it will not appear in the drop down list at the top of the screen, until re-enabled in the Scenarios screen

You can add a new scenario or duplicate, edit and delete existing accounts. You can also copy, print and export to PDF or Excel.

How to add a new scenario – when creating a new scenario, users can assign a hierarchy to the scenario. This hierarchy facilitates visualizing the mapped pathways and branches of strategies for each company. Users can choose ‘belonging to’ from their list of scenarios and designate the ‘parent scenario‘ for the scenario they are creating. If nothing is selected, the new scenario will be established as the main scenario without any parent. Furthermore, each company has the flexibility to possess multiple main scenarios that can either branch out or stand alone.

How to duplicate a scenario – if you would like to duplicate a scenario, you can select a previously created scenario and click on the ‘Duplicate’ button. Please note that duplication only extends to creating another record in the table, and none of the existing scenario data previously configured on the Planning data screen will be duplicated to the new entity.

Scenario attributes – you can easily identify your current scenario by an asterisk next to it in the Attributes column. The color assigned to this scenario will also serve as the border color for screens such as ‘Planning Data,’ ‘Forecast,’ and ‘Dashboard.’

How to switch between scenarios – if you’d like to change your current scenario, simply navigate to one of the screens mentioned above, and select a different scenario from the drop down list on the bar at the top of the screen.
